A MAN underwent surgery after suffering a fractured jaw and chipped tooth when he fell over escaping from robbers.

The 23-year-old was walking home carrying his guitar in Barncroft Way, Leigh Park, Havant between 12.10am and 12.20am on Tuesday.

A man and a woman approached him and the man demanded his guitar.

The victim ran away but fell over and the male suspect kicked him.

The woman tried to take the victim’s guitar.

Nothing was taken as the victim ran away toward Purbrook Way.

The male suspect was white, in his late teens to early 20s, around 5ft 9in, and of a medium build.

He has short blond hair and wore a white T-shirt.

The woman was white and around 18 years old.

She was short and slim, had dark hair and wore a beanie hat.

Det Con Danielle Johnson said: ‘This is a particularly serious incident.

‘We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this.

‘We would like to identify a man on a bike who spoke to the victim after the assault took place.’
