German police did not name the victim but said he was 51 at the time, the same age as Mr Bache.

A police statement issued to the news organisation said: ‘It seems he didn’t count on the good co-operation of European law enforcement agencies.

‘Now he’s sitting in jail in Munich.’

The Russian was on his way to Bilbao in Spain for a Europa League game.

PC Stuart Dickerson helped to save Mr Bache’s life at the riots and recalled seeing ‘about 150 Russian hooligans who were clearly trained in fighting’ in the ‘war zone’.
