Scheme to tackle anti-social behaviour gets £30,000

A PROJECT to combat addiction and help reduce anti-social behaviour has received a slice of £2.9m lottery funding.

Hayling Island Community Centre, in Station Road, has been given more than £31,000 by the Big Lottery Fund.

The plan is to extend the community centre and create a ‘hub’ for the island and provide more essential services for local people.

New activities and courses – many aiming to give people new skills – will be provided at the centre.

Lyn Cole, deputy director at Big Lottery Fund, said: ‘This funding will help people to unlock abilities and skills to improve the lives of local people and their communities.’
