A MAN tried to rob a 15-year-old who was on his way to school of his mobile phone.

The boy was heading to school when he reached the alleyway in Bognor Regis which leads from Renoir Mews to Chichester Road on July 4 at 7.30am.

A man close to the entrance to a block of flats demanded the boy hand over his mobile phone.

When he refused, the man grabbed him and pushed him up against a wall. There was a struggle during which the victim managed to punch his assailant in the face, causing him to run off. He was seen to run up Renoir Mews and turn into Whiteways.

The suspect is a white man, 6ft, in his 30s or 40s, with short messy dark hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing a long-sleeved white top underneath a black body warmer, black jogging bottoms, black gloves and black Nike trainers. He spoke with an Eastern European accent.

Anyone who saw the incident, noticed a man matching the suspect’s description or who has other information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email, quoting serial 310 of 04/7.

Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555111.
