POLICE are appealing for help to identify the victims of a serious late-night assault.

Members of the public called police when they saw two men being attacked in The Square, Emsworth, just before and just after midnight on Sunday.

PC Luisa Dicicilia said: ‘This is an unusual incident to occur in Emsworth. Two men were detained following the incident, however the two victims left the area before police arrived. They may have been subjected to a serious assault.’

A 25-year-old man from Emsworth has been arrested on suspicion of assault, affray and criminal damage. A 24-year-old man from Emsworth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and affray.

Both have been bailed until August 8.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or can help police to identify the victims should contact PC Dicicilia at Waterlooville police station on 101.
