POLICE have arrested a second man in connection with the attack on a woman in her home.

Two weeks ago officers from Sussex Police found a van they were looking for in connection with the attack, in Whale Island Road, Portsmouth.

A 54-year-old man was arrested at the international ferry port on suspicion of attempted murder of a 61-year-old woman who was attacked with a weapon in her own home. The man is now in hospital but remains under arrest.

A 63-year-old man, from Horsham, has also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and has bailed until March 20.

The victim was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital suffering life-threatening injuries to her head and face. She is now recovering well.
