THIEVES stole sentimental gifts from the homes of elderly people during two separate daytime raids.

A house in Kirby Road, North End was raided between 1.45pm and 5.50pm on Saturday, March 28.

A gold cameo brooch, gold cameo ring, a ‘lovers knot’ gold and ruby watch and a silver bracelet watch engraved with ‘in loving memory of mother’ was taken.

Just eight days later a gold wedding band, a limited edition Zippo lighter and a laptop was stolen from a house in Kensington Road, Copnor.

The elderly residents of both homes were away when the raids took place. A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Did anyone see any people or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the burglaries or have any knowledge as to where the items are now?’
