A THIEF who targeted Co-op stores in Havant and Waterlooville has been jailed.

Billy O’Sullivan stole from various Co-op stores seven times in January and February.

He managed to get away with just under £350 worth of goods.

On one occasion the 33-year-old was involved in a struggle with staff who tried to stop him and when he was arrested in Milton Road, Cowplain, he was caught carrying a knife.

At the time of the offences he was serving a community order for a previous offence, after he was caught stealing from the One Stop shop in Hart Plain Avenue, Waterlooville.

O’Sullivan, of Linnet Close, Waterlooville, pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft and possession of a knife in public when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The magistrates said O’Sullivan had a record of offending and had ignored court orders in the past.

He was jailed for nine weeks.
