A KNIFE-WIELDING robber assaulted a shopkeer in a botched raid.

Police said a man with a blade demanded cash from the worker at AJ’s Pantry, in Cheltenham Road, Paulsgrove, yesterday.

An ‘altercation’ followed and the worker was assaulted.

It happened between 4.25pm and 4.35pm, Hampshire police confirmed.

A spokesman said: ‘A man with a knife demanded money from the shopkeeper.

‘An altercation followed and the shopkeeper was assaulted.

‘The suspect left without any money.

‘Investigations are ongoing.’
