A SHOPLIFTER who stole a pair of curtains has been let off with a conditional discharge.

Ashley Hall took the curtains and some Xbox 360 games, worth a total of £90, from the Wilkinson store in Commercial Road, Landport, Portsmouth.

Hall, of Paddick Way, Petersfield, pleaded guilty to theft at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The 25-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge which means he will not receive any further punishment if he stays out of trouble for the next year.

Hall was also told to pay £85 in court costs within two weeks.
