Six most wanted people in Portsmouth revealed by Crimestoppers

HAMPSHIRE'S '˜most wanted' criminals have been revealed in a new bid to track down offenders '“ and six of them are from Portsmouth.

The faces of the people wanted in connection with offences will be put on a digital screen fitted to a van for Crimestoppers’ Most Wanted campaign.

The vehicle will come to Portsmouth in the hope residents can help provide information that will lead to arrests and charges being made.

Emma Hart is wanted for attempted theft in Flathouse Road, Portsmouth on May 25, 2016

n Christopher Russell, 50, wanted for burglary on October 9, 2013, in Ferry Road, Hayling Island.

n Lee Winfield, 35, in connection with theft from motor vehicle offences, on May 1 in Kingston Road, Portsmouth.

n Wayne Kirkbride, 36, in connection with shop theft in Bursledon Road, Southampton, on May 3.

n Michael Deacon, 20, wanted for burglary offences in Clive Road, Fratton, on September 9, 2015

Lee Winfield, 16/08/80  wanted for theft from motor vehicle offences, May 1, 2016, Kingston Road, Portsmouth

n Emma Hart, 29, wanted for attempted theft in Flathouse Road, Portsmouth, on May 25.

It follows the success of Crimestoppers’ last campaign in March, which saw a 60 per cent rise in public information about incidents.

Julia Hughes, regional manager for Crimestoppers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said: ‘Last time the digital advan came to Hampshire we received 28 pieces of information from the public on wanted individuals.

‘It works because people understand they can safely and anonymously speak up about criminals without having their identities revealed or having to go to court.’

More than 100 faces are listed on the ‘Most Wanted’ gallery for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight for crimes ranging from burglary, drugs and criminal damage to assault.

Michael Lane, Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner, said: ‘I’m delighted to support this initiative and heartened to see how the last appeal helped to raise awareness. This campaign allows the public to engage in the work of the police to bring criminals to justice.’

Crimestoppers will be using Facebook advertising in order to appeal to residents.

Residents can also check the ‘most wanted’ people in their area by visiting crimestoppers-uk.org/most-wanted.
