MAGISTRATES have fined a man after he was caught with cannabis on him at a police station.

James Ward pleaded guilty to being in possession of the class B drug at Fareham police station in Quay Street on June 19.

The 50-year-old was fined £50 and told to pay £15 into a fund for victims of crime by Fareham magistrates.

An order was made for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.

He was also told to stay in court until the session ended.

Ward, from Botley Road, Southampton, also pleaded guilty to a charge of being drunk and disorderly at the Kings Head pub in The Square, Wickham, on the same day.

Magistrates decided to give Ward a 12-month conditional discharge for the offence.
