A MAN woke up after an assault covered in blood and unable to remember what had happened to him.

The 22-year-old fell unconscious after an attack in the Devonshire Avenue area at some time between 1am and 5am on Wednesday May 11.

He then made his way to Southsea police station with his nose bleeding and his top covered in blood at 5.15am to call for help.

He was then taken to hospital and released shortly after.

PC Daniel Mathias said: ‘The victim does remember meeting a friend in the Guildhall area and walking her home to Southsea during the early hours.

‘He thinks he became involved in an argument with a group of men. However, his memory of that night appears to be limited, and he cannot describe any more details.’

The man was wearing a white long-sleeved top and blue jeans, and was attacked in Cromwell Road, Highland Road or Devonshire Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Daniel Mathias at Southsea Police Station by phoning 101.
