POLICE have charged a man after they found more than 85,000 indecent images of children.

Michael Webster is accused of having photos and films of children being sexually abused.

The 28-year-old is facing 23 charges of making indecent photographs of children and five of possession of indecent images.

He is accused of downloading 85,085 illegal photographs and 399 films from the internet.

Webster, of Livingstone Road, Southsea, did not enter any pleas to the 28 charges when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The magistrates ruled that the case should be heard at the crown court.

Webster was released on bail to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court in March.
