A MAN has denied racially abusing a security worker at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Alan Young is accused of shouting at the member of staff after he was caught trying to steal a computer from the casualty department of the Cosham hospital in May.

Young, 46, of Alhambra Road, Southsea, admitted a charge of theft but he pleaded not guilty to a racially-aggravated public order offence when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was released on bail to return for trial on August 24.
