A MAN has appeared in court charged with a string of offences after police uncovered almost 1,500 indecent photographs of children.

Gregory Gay has been charged with 11 counts of making an indecent image of a child.

Police allegedly found just under 1,500 photographs of children when they searched his home in Devonshire Avenue, Southsea. He is alleged to have downloaded them from the internet.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between September 2008 and April 2010.

The 36-year-old did not enter any pleas to the charges when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

Gay was released on bail until February when he is due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court to enter pleas.
