SERIAL thief Christopher Hope-Kirk has been given a conditional discharge.

Hope-Kirk, from Sedgeley Close, Southsea, admitted stealing £48.90 of goods from the Co-op in Highland Road, Southsea.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to returning to the same store the following day and fleeing with goods worth £8.33.

Hope-Kirk also admitted to stealing three brass valves belonging to Portsmouth City Council from a flat in Wingfield Street, Portsmouth.

He was given a six-month conditional discharge.

Portsmouth magistrates made no order for costs.
