PORTSMOUTH magistrates have fined a man who stole two crates of lager from a Southsea shop.

Theodore Franklin took the crates of Stella Artois lager from the Co-op in Albert Road, Southsea, on February 14 this year.

At the time of the theft from the shop Franklin was also the subject of a conditional discharge.

This was handed to him by the courts in December for growing cannabis.

Franklin, of Tottenham Road, in Landport, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to theft and breaching the conditional discharge when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The 21-year-old was fined £20.

He was also told to pay £35 in costs by the magistrates’ bench.
