Portsmouth doorman permanently scarred after being glassed at Southsea nightclub...

Tom Kingsley, the owner's son, said: '˜What happened that night is really horrible and a disgrace.

'˜The most important thing out of this is making sure the person who did it is caught.

'˜It was one of our bouncers (who was assaulted), it is disgusting behaviour.

'˜I think in that situation the doorman has tried to get someone out and he has reacted and then ran.

'˜The bouncer was in a bad way. He has recovered but has got a lot of damage in terms of a scar.'

The 31-year-old doorman from Portsmouth required 20 stitches after being glassed and has been permanently scarred

Mr Kingsley says that once the man responsible is brought to justice he will be barred from the Southsea venue.

He added: 'This is the first incident of this kind that we've had.

'˜I think we have only had one other incident in the 7 years that we have been open and that was customer on customer.

'˜We have been lucky because we are strict on the door.

'˜We are a family business not a chain. We don't want to let nasty people in.

'Once he is identified he will be barred and he would be barred in places across Portsmouth. We all work closely together.'
