MAGISTRATES have fined a man for speeding in a motorboat.

Aaron Brown, of, Skylark Meadows, Whiteley, was fined £100 and told to pay £235 in costs by Southampton magistrates, after pleading guilty to speeding.

He was caught at between 25 and 30 knots on the River Hamble where a 6 knot limit applies – the equivalent of doing 125-150mph in a 30mph limit on the road.

Chairman of the Harbour Authority, Councillor Keith Evans said: ‘We hope this case will act as a deterrent to others in the future.’
