URBAN artist Chris Webb has created a Spinnaker-based picture in tribute to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris.
The self-taught art enthusiast from Portsmouth designed the image that incorporates the iconic Spinnaker Tower, a pencil and the phrase ‘Je Suis Charlie’ (I am Charlie), which has been used around the world in support of freedom of speech in the wake of the attack on the French satirical newspaper.
Ten cartoonists and journalists from the publication were killed along with two police officers in the terrorist attack.
The brothers responsible for the attack were killed this afternoon after police stormed a printworks north of Paris where the terrorists were holed up with a hostage, who reportedly survived the police operation to storm the building.
Shortly afterwards, four hostages were reported to have died but several more were rescued as police stormed a kosher store in Paris, where customers and staff had been held by a gunman and his girlfriend.
