A JOYRIDING sailor dumped a boat on Southsea beach after stealing it from a pontoon.

The coastguard and police were alerted by a runner who spotted the small tender to the west of South Parade Pier at 6am yesterday.

Hampshire police said it had a report of a boat stolen from the KB Boatpark pontoon in Old Portsmouth.

It was taken some time after October 18, when it was last used by the owner.

A police spokesman said: ‘It’s probably been taken for a joyride.’

The boat has been reunited with its owner.

Damage was discovered to the cabin.
