A POLICE scheme introduced to help reunite children who go missing in Cascades Shopping Centre with their families has been brought in across the city centre.

Following its success in the centre, Commercial Road has now signed up to the Child Safety Zone programme, which issues children with a free wristband that parents can write their mobile phone number on.

The bands are available from security guards in the centre, and if a child gets lost they are told to head to one of the Child Safety Zone shops.

This is clearly identified by stickers of orange balloons with smiling faces in the windows where a shop worker will call the number.

PCSO Lee Wright and Cascades general manager Rhoda Joseph are handing out the bands on Commercial Road tomorrow to celebrate the street joining and raise awareness of the scheme.
