A PERSISTENT thief has been told to stay in at night under a curfew.

Vincent McCaffrey, 42, took designer sunglasses at Boots in Commercial Road, Landport, Portsmouth. On four occasions between June 1 and June 26 he stole four pairs of sunglasses worth a total of £750.

McCaffrey, of Nutfield Place, Landport, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to four charges of theft when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court. He admitted one count of assault on Jane Gordon at a flat in Somers Road, Southsea, on August 23. District Judge Anne Arnold ordered him to stay in his flat between 6pm and 6am for 90 days and wear a tag.
