MOTORIST Nelson Marney was caught driving while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

The 43-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Cherokee Jeep in Chichester Avenue, Hayling Island, after drinking too much on May 14.

A test revealed Marney’s breath contained 78 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35mg.

Marney, from Carfax Avenue, Tongham, Farnham, Surrey, was banned from driving for 22 months by Portsmouth magistrates.

He was also told to pay £15 to a fund for victims of crime and £85 in court costs and was fined £500.

The driving ban could be reduced by five months if Marney pays to complete a government-approved driving course by July 2012.
