AN e-fit has been released by police following an attempted burglary.

A man tried to get into a home in Upper Bognor Road, Bognor Regis, by using fictitious stories – one of which was that he needed to check the homeowners’ drains.

However, the 56-year-old woman who lived there became suspicious and refused to let him in and when he left she called police.

The incident happened at about 11pm on April 23 and detectives have now been able to put together an e-fit of the suspect.

Detective Constable Ellie Hughes, from West Sussex CID, said: ‘Fortunately the homeowner did not let the man into her property but she was nonetheless very shaken by the experience and by what could have happened.

‘If you recognise the man in the e-fit or have any information that could help police with their inquiries then please call 101.’
