POLICE are asking for help tracking down a suspected sex offender who could be somewhere in Sussex.

Northumbria Police have released a photograph of Spencer Philip Clark, 47, who is wanted on suspicion of committing a sexual offence on a teenager.

In 2003 Clark met a 14-year-old young woman from Newcastle-upon-Tyne through a dating website, and it is alleged that he sexually assaulted her after meeting her in Newcastle at a city centre hotel.

The young woman made the allegation to police in 2009 and officers have been pursuing Mr Clark ever since in an attempt to trace him and have now decided to release his photograph.

Their information suggests that he could be in various parts of the country, as he has connections with Essex, Kent, Milton Keynes, Exeter, Plymouth, Sussex and Devon.

Northumbria Police are asking that anyone with information about Mr Clark’s whereabouts contact them on 03456 043 043, or call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Callers to Crimestoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
