POLICE are appealing for witnesses after arsonists set a wooden building alight in Chichester.

Officers launched an investigation after the blaze destroyed the building on Hollycombe Hill behind Hollycombe Steam Collection between 2pm and 5.45pm on June 8.

The building was in a clearing in a heavily wooded area, used for clay pigeon shooting.

Police are appealing for the owner of the land or building to contact them to assist with enquiries.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: ‘If anyone saw suspicious activity in the area during the time of the offence then we would ask them to call 101.’
