MORE than 250 people have applied to be police community support officers for Sussex police as part of a new recruitment drive.

Sussex’s Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne, who launched the campaign, said: ‘I am really pleased with the response we have seen so far, with an average of more than one application every hour since the recruitment window opened.’

Sixty officers will be appointed. The deadline for applications is January 2.
