TWO men have been arrested after a taxi driver was assaulted and robbed.

The assault came after the driver asked for the fare as he dropped off a group of six people at the junction of Talbot Road and Goldsmith Avenue, in Fratton, at around 10pm on Sunday.

His wallet, with £150 inside, was stolen and two men from the group are believed to have run away towards Fratton railway station.

The 35-year-old male driver was not injured seriously.

Two 18-year-old men from Portsmouth were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of robbery. They were questioned and bailed until September 23 pending further enquiries.
