Teen threatened by masked man on Gosport property doorstep in robbery attempt gone awry

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old narrowly escaped being robbed on the doorstep of a Gosport property this week.

The teenager was leaving an address on Turner Avenue when he was approached by two men, one of whom was wearing a skull mask, before becoming involved in an altercation just before 10.10pm on Wednesday.

The victim reports a sharp instrument being pushed into his back, while one of the men attempted to put his hand into the victim’s coat pocket.

During the altercation, the victim and his assailant fell through the property’s front door, with the victim then managing to shut the door on his attackers and call out for help.

One the men wore a distinctive skull mask, according to a spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary.

He said: ‘One of the men was described as a black man, aged 20 to 25, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and of medium build.

‘He was wearing navy blue tracksuit bottoms, a black puffa-style jacket with the hood up, and a skull mask.

‘We have undertaken initial police enquiries, but we are now turning to the public for assistance.’
