POLICE are hunting a man who indecently assaulted a teenage girl.

The victim was walking along Lake Road towards Fratton, Portsmouth, when she realised a man was following her.

He spoke to her before grabbing her and indecently assaulting her.

The girl managed to get away but her attacker followed her across Holbrook Road and around the roundabout. The woman shouted for help and alerted two members of the public who ran over and scared him off.

Det Con Jim Garrett said: ‘This is a serious assault which could have been a lot worse had members of the public not been around and able to help.

‘We’re appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone who saw anything suspicious to make contact as soon as possible.’

The attack took place at 10pm on Wednesday, March 9, but police have only just released the details.

The offender was white, 35 to 40, 5ft 9in with short, dark messy hair. He had blue eyes and a small amount of stubble, with a chubby face. Call 101.
