POLICE are appealing for information after a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl.

The 15-year-old was attacked in Walpole Park, Gosport.

A 17-year-old boy from Portsmouth has been arrested in connection with the assault.

He has been bailed by police until March 9 while detectives investigate.

Police say they want to speak to anyone who was in the park between 2am and 3am on Friday of last week.

Detective Constable Nick Wieczorek said: ‘We would like to speak to anyone who was walking through Walpole Park around the time of the incident, particularly a man and a woman who could hold vital information.

‘They are described as being in their late teens or early 20s, the woman was wearing a black coat and the man a cream or light coloured jacket.

‘At this stage we are trying to establish exactly what happened and are appealing to anyone who may be able to help us to come forward.’
