A TEENAGER fought off a would-be robber who tried to steal his mobile phone in broad daylight.
Police are appealing for more information after the attempted robbery in North End.
An 18-year-old was walking south along Heathfield Road when he was approached by a man near the junction with Croft Road and the Southern Co-operative car park.
The suspect attempted to take the teenager’s mobile phone, but the victim defended himself and ran away.
Nothing was stolen.
It happened at around 10.45am on September 21.
The suspect is described as white, in his 40s, and around 6ft.
He had a medium build, greying messy hair which came down to just below his ears, and facial stubble.
He wore blue jeans, dark boots, and a mustard-colour raincoat, which was just below waist length.
