A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was hit in the face in an unprovoked late-night attack.

The teenager was walking home along Arundel Street in Portsmouth when he was hit.

The attacker ran off towards Holbrook Road.

The victim suffered bruising to his face and forehead and swelling.

Investigating officer Det Con Matt Gamblen said ‘This was a completely unprovoked attack on a young man, minding his business and walking home at night.

‘At the time the boy had his hood up and was listening to music on earphones.

‘I urge anyone walking out late at night to be fully aware of their surroundings for their own safety.’

The attack happened at about 11pm on Saturday, February 8.
