A 19-year-old man was attacked and robbed in the street as he walked home in the early hours.

The victim was near the Toby Cavery in Copnor Road when he was assaulted by two men at around 3.45am on Sunday.

His Samsung Wave 525 mobile phone and black wallet were stolen by the suspects who then ran away in the direction of the Coach and Horses pub. The victim received cuts and bruises.

Detective Constable Amanda Waite, of Portsmouth CID, said: ‘We’re pursuing several lines of enquiry in the local community including appeals for witnesses. It would have been quiet in Copnor Road at this time of the morning so any disturbance may have caught the attention of motorists driving nearby or woken up residents in the area.’ Both men were white, of medium build, and were wearing dark hooded tops. Call police on 101 with information.
