TEN people have been arrested after police carried out three drugs warrants.

Hampshire police carried out raids in Portsmouth , seizing quantities of cocaine and heroin.

A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of murder relating to the death of someone not in the Portsmouth area.

Acting Chief Inspector Chris White, district commander, said: ‘Drug dealing and its associated violence will not be tolerated in Portsmouth.

‘We have and we will continue to make Portsmouth a hostile place for drug dealers and their vile trade.

‘I would urge anyone with information about drug dealing in Portsmouth, to contact us on 101, quoting Operation Fortress in Portsmouth.’

The raids were carried out yesterday and extra arrests were made today.

The 10 arrested people are:

• A 17-year-old boy from London was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and was bailed until October 20. He was also arrested on suspicion of murder, and transferred to the Metropolitan Police to help with their enquiries.

• A 26-year-old man from London and a 50-year-old man from Portsmouth have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and bailed until October 21.

• A 19-year-old from London has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of cannabis and has been bailed until October 21.

• A 24-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, possession of cannabis and possession of criminal property. He has been bailed until September 16.

• A 49-year-old woman from Southsea has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and has been bailed until September 16.

• A 20-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and bailed until July 23.

• An 18-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply and has been bailed until October 20.

• A 29-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin and a 27-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. Both are being questioned in police custody.

Inspector Louise Tester, who oversaw the operation, said: ‘The Charles Dickens Neighbourhood Policing Team has pro-actively tackled drug dealers coming into our communities and I would like to reassure residents that we will continue to disrupt their activities to restrict the supply of drugs and reduce demand for them in our city.’
