AN UNLUCKY thief fell into a pond while escaping from a home.

The offender had stolen an iPad and ring from the house before leaving.

The thief brazenly walked into a home in Solent Way in Alverstoke, Gosport, passing two residents sat in their garden, and taking the items on Tuesday, at 10.50am.

He is white, in his mid-20s, about 5ft 7in and slim with short dark hair.

On the day he wore a blue top and light coloured jeans.

PC Rachel Williams has issued advice to residents.

She said: ‘The man would have been distinctive if anyone had seen him as he fell into a pond making his escape so his feet would have been wet.

‘This is a rare occurrence for someone to act so brazen as to walk past both occupants in the garden.

‘Other residents need to make sure that they keep their doors locked when out in
their garden to avoid becoming victims of a similar crime.’

Witnesses to the crime are being asked to come forward.
