A MAKE-UP thief has narrowly avoided prison.

Amy Carter, 33, of High Lawn Way, Leigh Park, admitted theft of make-up worth £1,400 from Boots in Southampton.

Magistrates imposed an eight-week prison sentence suspended for six months.

She must pay £300 compensation for the items she took.
