A THIEF who targeted the same shop twice – once stealing fake nails – has been told to do 100 hours of community service.

John Vella stole £44 worth of mouthwash and body lotion from Boots in London Road, North End, Portsmouth on January 17.

Nine days later he took £150 worth of goods, including body wash and the false nails, from the same shop.

At the time of the crimes the 47-year-old was on a community order for five previous theft offences.

He had stolen £150 worth of Gillette razor blades from Wilkinsons in Arundel Street, Landport, £46 of washing powder from Asda at The Bridge shopping centre in Fratton and targeted the Co-op in New Road, Copnor, three times.

Vella, of Foster Road, Landport, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and breaching the community order when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He will have to carry out the unpaid work in the next 12 months.

The court also ordered Vella to pay £194 in compensation to Boots.
