A MAN has been jailed for stealing clothing worth more than £1,200 from a Southsea shop.

Aaron Good had denied stealing 24 pairs of jeans worth a total of £1,266.25, from Debenhams in Palmerston Road, Southsea on the same day.

However he was found guilty of the theft following a trial at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

Good was also found guilty of stealing £140 cash from a man in Osborne Road, Southsea.

Good had denied a further charge of being in possession of a kitchen knife in Fratton Road, Fratton, Portsmouth, without good reason.

The 41-year-old, from Kensington Road, North End, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to four counts of failing to surrender to custody.

Magistrates heard that the offences were all committed between January 24 and July 11 last year.

Good was sentenced to 12 months in jail.

City magistrates made no order for costs or compensation.
