A PROLIFIC shoplifter who has 80 previous convictions for theft has been jailed for four months.

Jeffrey Mulpeter was arrested after he stole four cans of Special Brew lager from a Co-op in Gosport on Tuesday, January 10.

Just six days earlier the 35-year-old was given a community order for a string of thefts.

He had been given treatment for his drug addiction after admitting seven counts of thefts from shops in Southsea.

But Mulpeter, of no fixed address, soon went back to offending.

District Judge Anne Arnold revoked the drug treatment order and jailed him.
