BURGLARS raided a home overnight on Christmas Day while the occupants were staying away due to a power cut.

The thieves forced their way in through the back of the property in Burridge Road, Burridge, Park Gate.

They searched the home and stole about 70 items of jewellery.

Police have said that the total value of the items stolen is not yet known as some of the jewellery had been inherited.

However many of them items taken are worth more than £100.

Now police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary, which is believed to have happened between 4.30pm on December 25 and 9am on December 26.

PC Tara Magnus is investigating.

She said: ‘Did you notice any suspicious activity area overnight on Christmas Day or have you been offered any items of jewellery for sale in the past week?’
