THIEVES fled with goods worth hundreds of pounds after breaking into a home while the owners were out.

They forced open the back door of a property in Swanwick Shore Road, Swanwick, before searching through the ground floor.

They made off with a beige Quicksilver handbag, a mobile phone, Oakley and Rayban sunglasses, as well as keys to a Volkswagen Golf, a driving licence, a Ralf Lauren Handbag and an Apple Mac Book Pro.

The homeowners had left the property at about 10.40pm on April 16 and returned less than an hour later to discover they had been burgled.

Police believe the thieves may have been disturbed in the act as a black car was seen to speed away from the property shortly after they arrived home.

Details of the burglary have only just been released.

PC Philip Hall said: ‘This is a very rare occurence in the quiet area of Swanwick.’

At the time of the incident there would have been a few people in the area. Were you in the location? Did you see anyone or perhaps a vehicle acting suspiciously during the times in the area?’

He added: Please make sure that all doors and windows at your homes have sufficient locks, and that they are used at all times.’
