TOOLS were stolen from a shed in Gosport and then used to try to break into a home.

Police are appealing for information after an attempted burglary in Gosport on Sunday.

Between 1.30am and 7.30am the tools were stolen from a shed in the back garden of a property in Clayhall Road.

They were then used to try to break in through the front door.

The thieves did not manage to get into the house.

PC Tara Magnus of Fareham and Gosport Priority Crime Team said: ‘If you saw anything suspicious in the area overnight or know who might have been responsible please contact us as soon as possible.

‘We advise that as well as making sure your house is fully secure before you go to bed at night that sheds and garages are locked when not in use, including any side gates to prevent access to the rear of the property.’

Anyone with information can contact Gosport police station by phoning 101.

Information can also be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
