UPDATE: Arrests made after suspected kidnapping attempt in Southsea

Have your say

WE will not tolerate shoplifting.

That is the message from police in Havant in the run-up to Christmas.

It comes as last year there were 18 reported incidents in five weeks before December 25.

Sergeant Ross Freemantle said: ‘We want to send out a clear message to any would-be thieves that we will be out and about keeping an eye on all the shops.

‘We will not tolerate shoplifting. It can have a big effect on shop takings which can in turn can effect people’s jobs.’

Hampshire police is putting on plain-clothed and high visibility patrols.
