Hampshire police were named runners-up in the inter-force swimming gala at the now-demolished Victoria Baths, Portsmouth.

Four forces – Hampshire, Dorset and Bournemouth, Sussex and Surrey – took part, and about 50 officers competed in the event.

Dorset and Bournemouth Constabulary won the event with 27 points, followed by Hampshire on 22, with Sussex and Surrey placed third and fourth, picking up 15 and 13 points.
