A message on the fundraising page, set up by Andy Gatenby, said: ‘Pompey’s much loved Barney Butwell is critically ill in hospital this page has been set up to raise some funds to help his family and the care of Barney.
‘Please understand that if the money is not needed for Barney, any funds raised will be donated to the Wessex neurological centre at Southampton General.
