POLICE are probing three burglaries in the same village within two days.

Officers are warning residents to ensure their properties are secure at all times after the thefts happened in Itchenor, near Chichester.

In the first burglary two handbags were stolen from the hallway of a house on Sunday.

Police later found the bands, but a small amount of cash missing.

A burglar was disturbed in the second incidents as the crook tried to get into a home in Itchenor Road on the same night.

Then at about 3.30am on Monday a Ridgeback Avenda 7 bicycle was stolen from a garage, again in Itchenor Road.

Sergeant Rachel Glenton from Manhood Neighbourhood Policing Team said: ‘I ask that people look at their own security and ensure that doors and windows are locked.

‘We rely on people to call us immediately if they see anything suspicious as this gives us the best chance of catching those responsible. In response to these two burglaries we have increased both the uniformed and unmarked police presence.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 quoting crime reference number 365.
