A FORMER navy commodore has been chosen as a candidate for the police and crime commissioner election.

Michael Lane, a former councillor at Gosport Borough Council, was elected to be the candidate by the Conservative party at a members-only meeting last week. Mr Lane said he knew police funding would be ‘challenging’.

Ukip’s candidate is Roy Swales. Simon Hayes, the independent incumbent, is running again in the May 2016 poll.
